Park Corner: The promised land for socialising in 2017

Park Corner, situated in the heart of the new art district in Rosebank, is quickly becoming a buzzing social spot for trendy professionals. Whether you’re looking at: getting a quick drink with friends or colleagues, having your hair trimmed to perfection while sipping whiskey, or grabbing a slice of high quality pizza; Park Corner has it all. This piece of modern real estate has all the right factors to make it your social destination for 2017.

PARK CORNER 1

The product of two companies, Lapalaka Property Projects and Capital Point, Park Corner has a distinct European lifestyle feel to its location, a walking node in the newly-developed art district. By incorporating bespoke retailers, beautiful, spacious apartments and on-street dining, it is the perfect combination of retail and relaxation.

The Collection From the team at Social on Main, they present The Bolton Road Collection, a patisserie, bar and gourmet restaurant. It’s the place to be for breakfast, lunch, after work cocktails and dinner. Designed in partnership with Inspirations Interior Design, this corner unit offers a Parisian style pavement café seating, a sexy cocktail bar and restaurant with double volume ceilings and New York style windows. The kitchen is on full display, perfect to watch the magic unfold in front of you.

PARK CORNER 2

Bar Ber Black Sheep is the brain child of Rory Sandilands, owner of Blo salon in Parkwood and Maboneng. He wanted to create a space people felt was an authentic barber shop, but where they could also have a whisky and cigar pre or post-shave and style. A space where patrons would just pop in after a long day for a whisky, beer, glass of wine or coffee which would ultimately become a favourite local watering hole; a grooming shop suggestive of a man cave. Patrons have a choice of bespoke grooming services, from a quick shave or trim to an executive experience (think three hot towels, hot foam shave with all the bells and whistles), as well as all other unisex hairstyling services.

PARK CORNER 3

Coalition, a laid-back pizza joint, uses imported Italian 00 flour, a simple tomato base and fresh homemade mozzarella, baking the pizzas at 500°C to give you that perfectly puffed and crisp base in under two minutes. The pizzas are marvellous, made only with the highest quality ingredients, while the restaurant is intimate and cozy with the pizza oven taking up most of the open-plan kitchen space. Not only pizza, but salads, fish, meat and an incredible tiramisu, Coalition is the answer for any Friday night pizza craving.

 PARK CORNER 4

Proof, an artisanal liquor store, unique in every way to any other liquor retail store, stocks a niche offering which provides fine alcohol to patrons that are looking for a boutique experience when purchasing their favourite tipple. Proof will address a need for the discerning shopper who is looking for an experiential way to buy, not only for themselves, but also unique alcoholic gifts that mark special occasions. Its location, aesthetics and feel as well as experts in-store are all designed to create something truly unique and special.

StudioA is an international award-winning boutique interior architecture firm. The firm focuses strongly on signature projects as a specialist company that deals with hospitality and residential projects from design to completion. Founded by 28-year-old Tristan du Plessis, a locally renowned young designer who has enjoyed eight years’ experience in the South African hospitality design sector, StudioA’s portfolio of completed projects includes some of the most spoken about hospitality destinations in South Africa, “Our goal is to create a varied portfolio of projects across all hospitality sectors and infiltrate international borders,” he says.

The Park Corner Mural This is the first in a series of murals focused on raising awareness of the critical state of our endangered wildlife. These murals are accompanied by a body of canvas works that will be exhibited in the US and Europe early next year. Through the sales of his art, Sonny also aims to raise funds for a tiger sanctuary that helps rehabilitate tigers and reintroduce them into the wild. He aims to inspire people through the pure beauty of these animals, in the hopes that they too will take action and support this important cause.
