Community running group making women feel safer while getting fitter

Winter is here. This is not a Game of Thrones drill. Rather it is an indication to every part of your body that trying times are ahead: drier skin and hair, uncontrollable fatigue and, possibly the most dreadful inevitability of winter – WEIGHT GAIN.

Personally I have grown accustomed to the gym and its major convenience but sometimes I want to be out in the open air and be energised by nature. The cold season means that it’s more risky to take a walk or run in the evening as the sun sets much earlier than I can make it out of the office. At least this is what I believed until I was lucky enough to stumble upon Catch Me If You Can (CMIYC).

“‘Catch Me If You Can’ is an exhilarating call to all energetic females to get up, get out and run together. It is a community created for women – where they do not just run together, but also have fun, feel comfortable and socialise with other women.” The best part about being in the group is that you always feel safe. Each group’s running leader makes sure that every woman on course is not left by themselves even when they’re lagging a bit behind. This sense of security is enough to keep you on the right track in your journey to sustainable health and wellness.

With running groups in Johannesburg, Cape Town, Kwa-Zulu Natal, Pretoria and The Garden Route, finding a group and joining is easy and free. You can join a CMIYC Leader in your area on Facebook and get access to private chats. This is where you will get notified about weekly running dates, interact with other CMIYC Members, get useful tips, and post personal running goals.

Official Memberships open in June 2017.
