Manolo Blahnik to tell his story to the world’s shoe lovers

Revered footwear designer, Manolo Blahnik’s life story will soon be told in a new, exciting documentary film.  Directed by his long-time friend Michael Roberts, “Manolo: The Boy Who Made Shoes for Lizards is expected to be an in-depth look into Blahnik’s magical life, starting with his youth which was spent on the Canary Islands in Spain.

According to Harper’s Bazaar, for Roberts, the decision to transform Manolo’s world into a feature film was an easy one. In a statement, he went into further detail: “Having known Manolo for over 45 years, I can say he is a multifaceted intellectual and romantic whose engaging mind and ingenious work is made for entertaining cinema,” he said.

Blahnik first started working in fashion as a set designer, but legendary Vogue editor Diana Vreeland encouraged him to dedicate his efforts entirely to shoes around the year 1972. From there, he quickly secured the role of premiere footwear designer to the stars. Included in his giant client roster are Rihanna, Naomi Campbell, and Iman, all of whom appear in the film. The feature’s confirmed guest stars also include John Galliano, Charlotte Olympia, Karlie Kloss, Sofia Coppola, and many more.

Manolo: The Boy Who Made Shoes for Lizards, and its release date is set for September 15 2017.
