Da Vinci: The Role DiCaprio was born to play

Who better to play Leonardo da Vinci, the pinnacle of renaissance art and thinking, than Leonardo DiCaprio – One of the most celebrated actors of our time?

DiCaprio has recently been announced to appear in an upcoming film as Da Vinci in all his artistic and forward thinking glory.  He is also expected to produce this film under his production company — Appian Way. He is joined by president of production Jennifer Davisson. Paramount Pictures is said to have acquired the rights to the book on Leonardo Da Vinci by Walter Isaacson, beating Universal in a bid to make the film.

The Oscar winner says he was named after da Vinci, who painted the Mona Lisa and the Last Supper. The story goes that his mother, while pregnant with the Titanic star, chose the artist as her son’s namesake when she felt DiCaprio kick for the first time while examining a da Vinci piece at the Uffizi Gallery in Florence, Italy in 1974.

It seems the stars have always been aligned for this upcoming biopic. Meanwhile, the film’s release date has yet to be announced
