On March 7, 2016, pupils at Northriding High School were given 10 brand new personal computers by Hot 91.9 FM.

The HotCares initiative is a community project.

Hot 91.9 FM manager Lloyd Madurai said, “We donated 10 desktop computers, 20 inch monitors and printers with a full multimedia set up. As a team, we felt that no student should go without computers when they need to complete their school work. As a community radio station we believe in helping people who are in need.”Hot919, Hot Cares, Northriding High School, Lloyd Madurai

Northriding High School principal Dr. Francios Oosthuizen said they approached the radio station to allow them to go on air and ask their listeners for computers.

“The donation of computers is the first step in our program to get internet access. It will greatly assist pupils who do not have an internet connection at home. They will now be able to complete school assignments, projects, and assessments,” explained Dr. Oosthuizen.
